Ideas for your first plan

Famous public places in Mumbai to start with. They're ideas, not partner venues: in the app, every plan uses a public venue from our approved list.

Concerts and events

  • NCPA, Nariman Point. Concerts, dance and theatre by the sea at the National Centre for the Performing Arts.
  • Prithvi Theatre. An intimate, much-loved theatre in Juhu. Arrive early and take in the atmosphere.
  • Royal Opera House. A beautifully restored opera house in Girgaon, for concerts and recitals.

Coffee and meals

  • Kala Ghoda. The art district's galleries, bookshops and cafés, made for a slow afternoon together.
  • Girgaon Chowpatty. Chaat and kulfi on the beach as the sun goes down.

Movies and shopping

  • Colaba Causeway. Street stalls for jewellery, bags and clothes. Bargaining is better with a friend.
  • Crawford Market. The landmark market (Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Mandai) for fruit, spices and household finds.
  • Linking Road, Bandra. Shoes, clothes and accessories along one long, lively street.

Walks and city days

  • Marine Drive. The Queen's Necklace: walk the promenade together and watch the city light up.
  • Gateway of India. The waterfront arch at Apollo Bunder, a classic start to a day in South Mumbai.
  • Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya. One of India's great museums, with galleries you can lose an afternoon in.
  • Sanjay Gandhi National Park. Forest trails and the Kanheri Caves in the city's north. Go in daylight.

A good first plan in Mumbai

A good first plan is short and easy to leave: an evening walk on Marine Drive, or an hour in the galleries around Kala Ghoda. If it goes well, book a show at the NCPA or Prithvi Theatre next time. Mumbai is long and narrow, so choose somewhere on a train or Metro line that suits you both, and allow for the monsoon rains from June to September.

Safety in Mumbai

In Mumbai, 112 reaches police, ambulance and fire. Check how you'll get home before you go, whether that's a cab, a local train or the Metro, and share your plan with your trusted contact. During a booking, SOS alerts our safety team and your trusted contact, and shows 112 to call.

  • Women only, verified with ID and a live video check

  • Camera-only profile photos, so what you see is who you meet

  • An SOS button and safety check-ins on every booking

  • Public places only, with every message and payment kept in the app

  • Your payment is held until the activity is done

In an emergency, always call 112 first.

How we keep every booking safe

Verified by a person

SheJoins is for women. Every member's government ID must state female, and she must be 21 or over. Our team checks each ID against a short live video before anyone can see or be seen. ID images are deleted 30 days after we decide.
