Women only

Women-only company in Tokyo

Women only. Every member is a woman, verified by ID and a live video.

Travelling alone? Find a verified local woman to explore Tokyo with.

Tokyo is neon streets and quiet shrines, tiny food counters and huge stations, and it rewards anyone who knows where to look. A local woman beside you can read the menus, find the right exit and show you the Tokyo you'd walk straight past. SheJoins helps you find a verified woman to explore with, and every plan is platonic and in a public place.

Ideas for your first plan

Famous public places in Tokyo to start with. They're ideas, not partner venues: in the app, every plan uses a public venue from our approved list.

Concerts and events

  • Nippon Budokan. The legendary hall by the Imperial Palace gardens, for concerts and big shows.
  • Suntory Hall. Tokyo's great concert hall at Ark Hills, for orchestras and recitals.
  • Tokyo Dome. The domed stadium where the biggest tours play.

Coffee and meals

  • Tsukiji Outer Market. Small food stalls and shops by the old fish market. Breakfast together on sushi and tamagoyaki.
  • Yanaka Ginza. An old-Tokyo shopping street of snacks and small shops, slow and friendly.

Movies and shopping

  • Ameya-Yokochō. The busy market street under the tracks by Ueno, for snacks, clothes and bargains.
  • Harajuku and Omotesando. Street fashion on Takeshita Street, then the tree-lined avenue of Omotesando.
  • Ginza. Department stores and flagship shops; the main street is closed to cars at weekends.

Walks and city days

  • Senso-ji, Asakusa. Tokyo's oldest temple, through the Kaminarimon gate and along Nakamise-dori.
  • Meiji Jingu. A shrine in a forest beside Harajuku, calm in the middle of the city.
  • Shinjuku Gyoen. A big garden with Japanese, French and English sections, beautiful in cherry blossom season.
  • Ueno Park and Tokyo National Museum. A park full of museums, with Japan's largest collection of art and history.

A good first plan in Tokyo

A good first plan is short and easy to leave: a walk at Meiji Jingu, or breakfast at the Tsukiji Outer Market. If it goes well, plan Asakusa or a concert next time. Tokyo's stations are huge, so agree on a meeting point down to the exit, such as Hachiko at Shibuya, and check the last train home before you set off.

Safety in Tokyo

In Tokyo, trains stop around midnight, so check your last train home before you go out. Plan your way back, and share your plan with your trusted contact. During a booking, SOS alerts our safety team and your trusted contact.

  • Women only, verified with ID and a live video check

  • Camera-only profile photos, so what you see is who you meet

  • An SOS button and safety check-ins on every booking

  • Public places only, with every message and payment kept in the app

  • Your payment is held until the activity is done

How we keep every booking safe

Verified by a person

SheJoins is for women. Every member's government ID must state female, and she must be 18 or over. Our team checks each ID against a short live video before anyone can see or be seen. ID images are deleted 30 days after we decide.
